Privacy & Security

Plain language about what this app does with the information you give it.

No bank connection in this version

Virtual Accountant does not link to your bank, card issuer, or brokerage. There is no live balance sync. Account labels such as “Chase checking” or “Amex” are organizational names you type in yourself — nothing is connected behind them.

What you upload

You may upload PDF or image statements, receipts, and screenshots, or paste transaction text. Files are stored in a private storage area scoped to your account and are never listed publicly. Please avoid uploading anything you would not want stored.

How your data is used inside the app

Your records are used to build your ledger, totals, category breakdowns, budgets, duplicate checks, and answers in Ask My Records. Your financial records are private to your account. We do not sell your financial data.

Access controls

Every financial table uses row-level security so queries can only return rows belonging to your signed-in account. Uploaded documents are kept in a private bucket and are opened through short-lived signed links only when you view them.

Deleting your data

You can delete individual transactions, delete an import together with its source file, or delete all of your financial data from Settings. Deletions of your records are immediate and are not recoverable from within the app.

What we do not claim

This app makes no certification or regulatory compliance claims. It is not a CPA, licensed accountant, fiduciary, advisor, or tax preparer, and it does not provide financial, investment, tax, legal, or credit advice.

Virtual Accountant helps you organize, categorize, track, and understand the financial information you provide. It does not provide financial, investment, tax, legal, or credit advice.
